Derailed but back on track
27th of June, 2017
Time for an update!
Some of our stock seems to find their way around the shop when we are not looking. Take the TeeHee Dog for instance. He just wants to make friends all over the shop, and has a ready smile for everyone.
And the Furrybones Salt & Pepper Shakers … ... they sneak around every time I turn my back.
However ... they are all so cute we tolerate their behaviour!
The Egyptian stock is trickling in well, and we are doing our best to get it out on display.
However … the big hiccup in a beautiful plan was the accident the company van had in Akaroa due to a driver coming the other way and being in the centre of the road. Deviating to avoid them, veering onto the grass, and hitting a culvert has resulted in 6 weeks without the van (parts had to be ordered in from the UK) and so Andrew and Craig have done all they can to get stock to us. In fact, the Model A Ford Vintage truck got called into action! (No they did not take a picture of the truck loaded with stock!) So they really have done everything they can possibly do to keep things moving, and are relieved that the van will be back within the next week. We have a lot of catching up to do, but we are hard workers, and are up to the challenge!
Life can be a bit like the van … there’s a plan, it is all going along nicely, and then there is a derailment of the plan. So, we learn to be patient, to accept ‘what is’, and we use the time to focus on other things—organising the storeroom, relocating boxes to make space for incoming stock, thinking about where things can fit and move to, streamlining processes, and, as always, taking care of our customers.
Some of the new stock flies out the door almost as soon as it is on the shelf!
The Furrybones plush toys, whilst maybe not something you would have expected us to have, are hugely popular! We also have the key-rings and the collectables. It’s a fun range, and we—as much as you—like to have fun!
We have customers with anxiety issues, and ADD, and so, yes, we are stocking the Spinners. One customer, who works with special needs children up to the age of 22 years said they really work, and so he has seen this in practise. We take that on board! And other customers with ADD, and anxiety issues have also affirmed that they benefit from the Spinners.
Skulls … oh my gosh we have never seen such a cool range of skulls! Art works in their own right!
New incense stock is on order. New books, tarot cards and oracle cards have arrived. We are working on developing a Wiccan section of books—those we ordered in flew out the door as soon as they were unpacked and on display.
