Time for Tarot and Oracle
6th of March, 2019
Summer has ended … and we know you are all dreading the cold of winter!
Though we are still enjoying some lovely warm days as autumn winds us down into winter, it is perhaps time to plan for winter. What to do on those cold miserable days?
Tarot! Why not start researching now into tarot or oracle decks?
The most widely known, and the biggest seller in the shop is the Rider Waite Tarot. However, most people have more than one deck of tarot, and often they have both tarot and oracle cards. There is no right or wrong, you will simply find yourself drawn to a deck and not even know why. Let that be your guide. Don’t over think it!
We also stock books on how to read tarot, so perhaps consider that also.
Whilst we all begin by reading the booklet of what each card means, or referring to a How to Read Tarot book, the ultimate goal is to develop our intuition, so that we can intuitively know what each card is meaning in every individual reading.
Trusting in our intuition is a challenge, as we live in a society/world where we are taught to trust the mind—which is often totally untrustworthy! We are taught to be practical, to trust what we can see and touch, smell and taste, but not what we feel, not that inner gut feeling. Well … that inner gut feels is something we all could learn to trust in.
What does intuition in action feel like? Have you had that experience of being in the supermarket buying the groceries, and wondering ‘Do I need butter?’ and your mind tells you ‘no, I am sure I have butter at home’ and then you get home and find you have no butter. The voice that prompted you ‘Do I need butter?’ was your intuition, your inner guidance, talking. That is what it feels like, that is how it happens for most people, it just feels like an idea that pops into your head, or a vision that pops into your head. (Next time you are in the supermarket you will trust that intuition!)
Taking this all one step further, a bigger goal is to learn how to develop and trust our intuition in all areas of life. It’s about ‘being in the flow’. Instinct, gut feeling, intuition. Same thing. How can this help us? By trusting in it we know, when we walk into a meeting, how to run that meeting. We know, when we meet someone new, whether we can trust them or not. We know, when we talk with people, if they are genuine, authentic. We know when people come from ego because when they talk all we can hear is their ego screaming at us! Sometimes we might sit and look at a dog, or a cat, and know what they are feeling. Sometimes we may say ‘I love you,’ to our cat, and sense/feel their ‘I love you too’ response, though it will be in a feeling not it English words. We can sense their response.
Intuition can serve us in many different areas of life. Tarot and oracle cards are a way for us to work on developing that skill. It is a skill we all have, and not something reserved for just a few.
When reading tarot or oracle, don’t pressure yourself, just relax and allow an idea, a feeling, to come to you, open up and allow the experience, BUT, always protect yourself first. Always, always, always say a prayer of protection, or place tourmaline, or smoky quartz (or whatever else works for you) on you or on the table, to protect you from negative energies. Then trust that once you start seeing and feeling and sensing, that as you speak and share, more will flow. Keep out of your mind, don’t try to force it, just allow it to come. Don’t struggle to find meaning, for the meaning will come when you give it the space and the freedom to come.
